Starting January 1, 2026, adults ages 19 and older who are undocumented or don’t have a satisfactory immigration status will not be able to newly sign up for Medi-Cal.

What you need to know:

  • If you already have full Medi-Cal, you can stay covered no matter your status.

  • To keep Medi-Cal coverage, you must renew on time.

  • Renewal happens twice a year (every 6 months), not just once.

What you can do:

  • Watch for letters from Medi-Cal about renewal. Letters should be sent in a yellow envelope by mail.

  • To keep your Medi-Cal active, you must complete your renewal. Bring your yellow envelope to Camino Health Center – our staff will help you fill it out and send it to the county.

  • Moved? Call Medi-Cal right away with your new address.

If you don’t already have Medi-Cal and want to apply, enrollment must be done before January 1, 2026 to get coverage. You can apply online or by submitting a paper application.
